Blender Fast Pivot
This is a Blender 2.80 addon that creates two much needed menus for rapid camera aiming, cursor placement and local/global rotation toggles. This is the addon I created first so I could be comfortable navigating in Blender.
View > Aim At Selected
This snaps the cursor to the selected element, and aims the camera at the cursor. pressing it again without moving the cursor will toggle between placing the cursor at the selected midpoint and the global origin. when used it edit mode, it aligns the rotation of the cursor to the selected element. useful for scaling edges or rotating faces.
View > Toggle Local/Global
This toggles between setting the pivot point to the cursor or to the individual origins.
I have these bound to "alt+A" and `
they are my most used hotkeys.
install as you would usually install a blender addon.
protip: I suggest setting your startup scene to have the view set to "Lock Camera to View" turned on by default.
